|"Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy." Psalm 33:3|
Born into a musical family, it seems I was in a sense almost destined to one day begin playing music.
Having my dad playing guitar, mandolin, bass, and accordion, a brother who plays guitar, bass, sings and writes his own music (and and plays anything else he can get his hands on), three sisters who all sing, and one who plays guitar and piano, and my mom who sings as well, I had always wanted to play guitar, though it never quite seemed to catch on, and then piano, which didn't work either.
A few years back (though it seems like much longer) I discovered Celtic music, and after awhile of being exposed to it little by little, I found a strong liking for it, along with classical music and most other styles too.
I had an old recorder, and started messing around with it after hearing the opening song from "Chrono Cross". Then, last year, I picked up the tinwhistle, and on new year's eve I finally got a simple-system flute I had been wanting to get ever since I heard a flute solo of "Christmas Eve", and have been playing that for almost a year now.
Around two or two and a half years ago I started using a MIDI program on my computer, and started messing around with it, and sometime last year I started getting some actually good music.
I am mostly self-taught on my instruments, with some tips along the way. I now compose folk tunes and songs, some solo music, and a bit of video game music, and hopefully in time, some movie-quality music too. I play a variety of instruments and have plans to learn the Irish Uilleann pipes and Scottish smallpipes. I also play with the newly-formed trad group, the Celtic Knotheads.
I like just about any music that's good, but, as you can tell, Celtic is my favorite.
The options for instruments aren't quite wide enough, as the flute I play is the simple-system flute, tin whistle, and the percussion is an Irish frame drum called the bodhran.

Experience
- I guess average. I'm certainly no professional, in my opinion, but I play well enough to get around at least. As for years, recorder- around 3 or so, whistle- around 1 and 1/2, piano- a few months, guitar- maybe a year, flute, a little over a year. I've been composing I think somewhere around 2-4 years.
Looking For
- Other musicians who like and play the same kinds of music I do, as well as some people who play other styles like jazz, rock, etc., who wouldn't mind mixing some styles together to see what we come up with.
