Bio
I grew up in the 1960s and was first introduced to folk music at summer camp where the sing-alongs were lead by a member of Pete Seeger’s Sloop Clearwater. For those old enough to remember, this was a sailing ship that traveled the Hudson River in an effort to spur its clean-up. In any case, I began to play folk music on the banjo and harmonica in the genres of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan. I continued to play right through college, after which I took a brief respite of about two decades to earn a living. In the late 1980s, I returned to music, and, prompted by a new love of blues music, focused my efforts on the harmonica. This was a struggle at first, especially for my family who were forced to listen to notes that were not all that different from the sounds that the Metro makes as it screeches to a stop. However, after the tragic and untimely death of my father-in-law, something clicked and I suddenly began playing pretty good blues. (Please do not attempt to verify this with my family.) Today, I enjoy playing blues, jazz, and folk harmonica and playing just enough banjo and guitar to fill the space between the notes. Most importantly, my family would be truly grateful for any musicians who could help me form a band, mostly because it would get me out of the house.

Experience
  • I have been playing harmonica for most of my life and blues harmonica, in particular, for 20 years. I am fairly good, but have never been in a band. I just play by myself for fun. Whereas I enjoy both acoustic blues and electrified Chicago style blues, I am beginning to move towards a jazz ballads genre, but am not quite there yet.

I also enjoy folk music and play banjo, mostly two finger picking, together with the harmonica.

Finally, I can sing a little (usually better than in the attached audio clips).
Looking For
  • A congenial and relaxed group of people to play blues, folk and jazz. I would like to play both for fun and to form a performing band.
