Bio
i am pretty into bluegrass, i stand on the sidewalk by my house (because i don't have a porch) and play banjo every day by the corn. that or flatpick the guitar.
i'm in a couple bands that are fun, but i want to start up something that we can really take somewhere, at least sound-wise.
i have diverse interests in music, i like to play so much different stuff, but i think to make a good band you have to narrow it down quite a bit to some specific approach.

Influences
rock - how can i even start naming all the rock bands.

here, i'll go through the alphabet and name the first band that comes to mind: ac/dc, beatles and bob dylan, crooked still, drive by truckers, eagle of death metal, fleetwood mac, guns n roses, husker du, iris dement, jd crowe, karen carpenter, led zepp, madonna, neil young and neko case, old crowe medicine show, pretenders and patsy cline, queen, red hot chili peppers and rhonda vincent, sex pistols and simon and garfunkle and sons of the pioneers, tom petty, ok i'll stop here.

there is tons more of course:
bluegrass - you know, all those people, including larry keel
classic country - cash, willie, waylon, merle, hank, etc
old time - there are a bunch of great old time bands
Experience

Looking For
  • there are so many ways to proceed, one is to just make a rolling stones sort of a rock band, as a base, from which we can work in whatever we want, hell there's so much good music to play.
or develop an original material type of band, which could be anywhere from rock to more bluegrass/country with some alt sound, maybe with a drive by truckers influence.
would be fun to have a crooked still type band with female singer.
i'm open to ideas too, i hardly even started to list all my ideas.
